A Living Education Rooted in Truth, Beauty, and Goodness

K3 - Third Grade

“Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life.” Charlotte Mason

Atmosphere

Children naturally absorb much from their home and school environments. The ideas and attitudes that shape our daily lives have a powerful impact on children.

At our school, we aim to inspire a love of learning by demonstrating our own passion and curiosity. We strive to create a peaceful, joyful atmosphere where they can grow, thrive, and develop a love for learning.

Discipline

Education is more than academic knowledge; it is the development of good habits that shape character and guide lifelong learning. These habits encompass habits of mind and heart, such as focusing attentively, practicing honesty, and finding opportunities to serve others.

When nurtured intentionally, habits become powerful foundations that influence and mold a child’s character, fostering virtues that will serve them throughout life.

Life

Education should be vibrant and engaging, offering children the rich nourishment of inspiring, living ideas. Our goal is to present children with a feast of meaningful thoughts and ideas.

By immersing students in literature, nature, history, and the arts, we invite them into a world of ideas that shape not only their intellect but also their character, awakening wonder and sparking a lifelong love of truth, beauty, and goodness.

Who is Charlotte Mason?

Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) was a British educator who believed that education is more than just memorizing facts—it is about nurturing a child’s mind and heart through rich ideas, good habits, and real-life experiences. She emphasized living books, time in nature, and cultivating a love for learning.

"The child is not a vessel to be filled, but a person to be nurtured."

– Charlotte Mason

Miss Mason believed children were capable of engaging directly with ideas and knowledge rather than being passive recipients of information. Her approach encourages students to explore rich, meaningful content through living books, art, music, and poetry across all subjects.

Charlotte Mason in Action:

The Charlotte Mason philosophy emphasizes a holistic approach to education that nurtures both the mind and the spirit of the child. Our curriculum fosters a deep understanding of concepts, encouraging students to think critically and explore ideas, not just memorize facts.
